Victoria, great question. It’s not just gym locations you have access too. It’s total wellness facilities including chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, etc. You get discounts on those services in addition to fitness and wellness facilities. And, even though there’s a gym in your neighborhood, there may be a much nicer one in the Mutually Well network you could try out. Perhaps one has a sauna or whirlpool and the other doesn’t. One might have swim aerobics and the others don’t. So, it gives you flexibility to go to wherever you need to for the services you want. There’s typically much more out there than you’ll think of. So it’s fun to just visit participating locations and inquire about what they offer. You learn more and meet people in the process. It’s a win-win situation in my opinion. My parents never ventured out to find things to do. I encouraged them to just go to places and explore. A network like this is like a list of places to explore. Here’s a link to the search tool to see what’s in your area, connected to the Mutually Well network. https://www.mutuallywell.com/locations

I have been a mutual of omaha customer for several years and have been awaiting for you to offer a wellness program and now to see YMCA facilities are not included is extremely disappointing. Are Omaha insurance customers eligible for Mutually Well Program?

  • George Blackshaw

I have read several comments and have to agree with many members that $25.00 a month is no bargain. I checked out the cost to Golds Gym in my area. It is a very nice place with a pool and many classes but there are a lot of hidden charges that are not included in the membership. I think I’ll pass until Mutual of Omaha joins Silver Sneakers.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

They are both good programs with different things to offer. Mutually Well offers discounts on Chiropractic and Massage as well as other therapy solutions, in addition to a large growing club network. It costs more because it offers more. But Silver Sneakers is a good choice as well. It usually comes down to geography and budget. Have a great time with your membership and we’re happy to have received your comments.

My question is if I join Mutually Well at 25.00 a month does that cover a gym membership or do I still have to pay my monthly membership at the gym? My membership is currently 30.00 and wondering if I would still have to pay that in addition to the 25.00 for Mutually Well.

My husband already has a membership with Planet Fitness, how does he transfer it over and is there a benefit to being with Mutually Well.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Well, assuming his location is signed up with Mutually Well (most are) there wouldn’t be any transfer necessary. When a club is part of the Mutually Well network, Mutually Well members can go to that club. He could go do a different club every day if he wanted to. It might be a good idea for him to ask the people at Planet Fitness. If he says he’s a Mutually Well member and asks about canceling his current Planet Fitness membership to use his Mutually Well membership instead. Would anything change? I would think nothing would be different except he would have access to many more benefits. Mutually well offers discounts on therapies such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic care and more. Plus you’ll have access to thousands of fitness clubs. Not just Planet Fitness.

    • Jenny McCann

      Michael,
Did your husband end up getting the Mutually Well membership to use with Planet Fitness? If so, how does he like it? We’d love to hear if it has been beneficial to him. We know most gyms are closed right now because of COVID-19, so we are sharing some other good advice about working out at home. I think the Mutually well program sounds good , However I live in Neosho, Missouri , belong to the local YMCA who has Silver Sneakers , apparently all the Mutually Well programs are located only in Oklahoma, I would hope this program would expand to Missouri local Y facilities:

  • Nancy Jessup

How does one get a gym added to the list of gyms in my living area? I would like to join Crossfit Reignited in Leland, NC 28451. It has a program for 50+ people and is weight bearing exercises and HIIT workouts which are very good for those with osteoporosis-peni and other older people ailments. They also offer fully certified trainers at every class and classes are geared to each inidividual’s abilities and restrictions.

What area of your website do you go to get the membership card? I have gone to several of the different pages and none have the option. I have also called 3 times and haven’t been able to get an agent to be able to assist me. Above you note that I have an option to request a card and it will be mailed to me…the agents advise that isn’t possible that I have to print it off myself then provide me with a password to get into my account with my user Id being my email address. So far looking through 4 pages of different information pages there is no page that I have been able to find or have an agent tell me where I need to go. How do I get a copy of my membership card?

    • Bill Bronson Post author

The card can be downloaded and printed from the membership page once you log in.
I’m told they won’t mail you one. But, to request that one be mailed to you and to complain that it’s not an option, email info@tivityhealth.com and let your voice be heard.

What happened to my account information? When I logged in, I was met with a blank screen, Have we been completely deserted in this Covid 19 epidemic? I am thinking of suspending my membership since my $25 dues has done me no good in the last two months. But now I find I have no way of doing that since there is no response from the website.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Mary, I am not sure how to help you. Please call customer service about technical and billing issues. Nobody has been deserted. We are all still here and still helping people.

Upon trying to add a wellness program I find silver sneakers is FREE where at mutual seniors have to pay $25.00 a month and that is what the cost is per month here so what is the benefit other than all the connections etc whereas we only go to Jefferson or MorristownTN. Please text me your answer as I thought wellness was included in my policy etc.
    Thank you so much.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

      Emma,
Silver Sneakers is only free to some Medicare beneficiaries based on whether or not they have Medicare Advantage and also if their plan includes it. I assure you Silver Sneakers is getting paid and is not free.
Mutually Well is a very robust program and has a cost as well. The difference is that any Mutual of Omaha customer is qualified to participate.
The benefits include discounts for massage, chiropractic, and other services you may already be paying full price for. So the membership could pay for itself. I encourage you to call customer service to discuss the viability of keeping the program in force. 833-574-6105

Was money been taken out during the lockdown? My gym was closed from March 28 through June 26. That is when the gym is fully open.

  • Gary L Ruddell

My Fitness Center is (and has been since Mar 20/20) closed temporally. I need my $25 fee per month (taken from my checking account)

stopped. My acct. # is 2300-1019-7465-2731, Gary L Ruddell. Withdrawal is schedule the 4th of each month. This would be the 4th month I’ve paid for no services. E-mail is: g.ruddell@yahoo.com

I have a membership with Mutually Well. I joined because of participation with Curves in Meridian, Idaho. I was just advised that Curves will no longer participate with Mutually Well.

How do I cancel my membership?

If I cancel and decide to join later, can I do so?

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Dorothy, I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will reconsider. So, going to Curves is a mandatory part of your membership?
Mutually Well has many benefits. And in Meridian, there’s Crunch Fitness, Idaho Fitness Factory, Anytime Fitness, and Axiom that are all highly rated and on the Mutually Well program.
You can talk to customer service about cancelling. The customer service line is 1-833-574-6105

Currently I enter my gym (LA Fitness) by scanning a QR code on my apple watch or Iphone available within the gym’s app. This is necessary to maintain a touch free environment for Covid safety. I suggest making a similar QR code available within your Iphone app, and also on the Apple watch. Many, many people take nothing but their Apple watch, which supports fitness in many ways, to the gym.
    Thanks
    Steve

Most of the gyms that take mutually well are extremely basic and I am somewhat concerned about some of the gyms commitment to COVID-19 safety precautions.
If I am not satisfied with the gyms that are available and accessible to me near my community how do I stop my membership?

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Anytime Fitness and Planet Fitness are among the many gyms taking Mutually Well. They are not usually considered basic. However, if you are not happy with your membership you can cancel it at any time. Just call 1-833-574-6105

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Donna, I just tried the system 1-833-574-6105 and it worked. The hours are Monday through Friday 9-6 eastern time. Please try again during those times and report back if you have issues.

I want to join a local gym listed as a participant. Of the $25 I’d pay monthly how much would that specific gym receive? There’s an additional charge there to use pool.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

Clay, agreements between Mutually Well and gyms are confidential and I do not know how much the gym receives.
It is my understanding that the membership is the same as any base membership and comes with access to all of the facilities offered by their normal membership. Any additional access is extra. I would ask the gym manager for details on what is offered by their business.

    • Bill Bronson Post author

      Cynthia,
Mutually Well is not free, but provides many discounts for Chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and gyms.
With the membership, you will not pay the gym any extra fees, unless you opt for extra services.
Silver Sneakers is primarily at the WMCA and can be free through certain Medicare Advantage programs.

  • JC

Silver Sneakers is included free with many Medicare supplement plans too, in addition to Medicare Advantage plans. For example, Anthem and Medical Mutual of Ohio supplement plans both offer Silver Sneakers for free. Will Mutual of Omaha consider offering Silver Sneakers free with their supplement plan?

    • Bill Bronson Post author

      JC,
I believe Silver Sneakers is only included in some Medicare Advantage plans, not Medicare Supplements (Medigap).

I called in last year about getting the gym where I go……….. CROSS GATES IN SLIDELL LOUISIANA on the list for MUTUAL OF OMAHA. The lady told me from time to time they ad new faciities TO THE PROGRAM . I would appreciate if the company could look into getting this one added to your list. The cost of gym memberships today is very costly for one who is on social security ( a limited income). Please have someone call me reguarding this issue. At age 65 all gyms should except medicare..at no COST… they would be a lot more healthly elderly people in this world.

    thanks fore your time.

I miss my silver sneakers I had. That program cost me nothing at the YMCA. Now Mutually well cost’s about the same as a YMCA membership. So this is no savings for me. I am 65 years old and you would think they would try to get an incentive program for the elderly or cut the price to 15 dollars a month for the elderly. Mutually well is a good price if you are younger. I can’t afford 25 dollars a month well actually it will be 26.50 a month. The 1.50 is a hidden fee.

It’s too bad Mutual of Omaha does not have a health program that is accepted by gyms near me. I am located in Houston TX. It is also too bad that the Mutually Well membership fee costs more than many gym memberships based on Senior rates. My last plan offered a free gym health benefit and there were two gyms close to me that accepted the Silver and Fit plan. I am very disappointed there are no gym locations around me that accept this plan.

  • Cynthia Kirwan

I have a small, private gym close to home. I have chronic foot issues, and am in need of personal training while I am rehabilitating. is there any way for this gym membership be paid for through mutually well membership?
