Biotin derives from the Greek word “biotos,” which means ‘life’ or ‘sustenance.’ If you are wary about taking supplements, fear not. You can find natural biotin in foods such as salmon, avocado, eggs, bananas, milk, and more. Biotin is especially crucial during pregnancy as it assists in embryo growth!

How much should you be taking?

Now, let’s talk about usage. There is no evidence suggesting that one can take too much biotin. Medical research has not found solid evidence that ingesting too much biotin is toxic to the human body, indicating biotin is a very safe supplement. Understandably, the recommended daily amount for biotin is 30 to 100 micrograms in adolescents and adults. You can find biotin at just about any store you regularly buy supplements. Remember to consult with your doctor or family physician before taking any vitamin supplements. Just because it worked for me doesn’t mean it will automatically be your fix. It’s certainly worth a try though!
