The Medicare G Plan is just one of ten plans for Medicare and Medigap. Each plan appears very similar from a distance, yet they all differ subtly! Of all the plans offered, Plan G is one of, if not the most popular Medicare supplement plans. Here are just some ways Plan G compares to the others.
Part A Coverage Under Medicare G Plan
Just like Plans B, C, D, F, and N, Plan G will cover the Part A deductible. Plan G will also cover 100% of the Part A hospice copay or coinsurance like Plans A, B, C, D, F, M, and N. Plans K and M will cover 50% of the Part A deductible, and Plan L will cover 75% of the Part A deductible. Plan K will only cover 50%, and Plan L will only cover 75% of the coinsurance or copay.
Part B Coverage Under Medicare G Plan
When it comes to the Medicare Part B deductible, Plan G does not provide coverage, just like Plans A, B, D, K, L, M, and N. The only plans that provide Part B coverage are Plans C and F. However, Plans G and F offer 100% coverage toward any Part B excess charges! So, if Plan F provides what Plan G covers in addition to covering the Part B deductible, why is Plan G still more popular to this day? Plan F is being phased out, so anyone who has turned 65 on or after January 1st, 2020, is NOT eligible for Plan F. Thus, Plan G is the most popular plan for upcoming users of Medicare supplements who are recently becoming eligible.
Other Benefits Covered Under Medicare G Plan
Other aspects that Plan G covers include a couple of things. Like the other Medicare plans, Plan G will cover three pints of blood each year if you need blood transfusions. It also can provide coverage for any medical aid needed while traveling abroad, up to your limit. Additionally, this plan can assist with paying for professional nursing facilities, including nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
Ultimately, we highly recommend seeking advice from an insurance agent if you are unsure which plan is best for you. They can help guide you through the process and discuss what coverage you require and can afford. It’s best to seek assistance now rather than have no coverage at all!
